This theme, is associated with many stories, such as fairy tales, everything will work out for the boy or girl who has a rough life as long as they do what is right. This is fits Oliver perfectly, he almost wasn't even given a name, and in the beginning it was almost inevitable that he would end up a street rat, than as he went through life learning what was right or wrong things feel into place for him, and it was a .....

.... Jim’s ever churning soul made him very unhappy. Fighting constantly within himself made Jim experience extreme guilt and anguish. The way Jim struggled on the inside caused Jim to seem lack luster and lazy on the outside. If Jim would have been more at peace with his soul he would not have been in such pain. Being that Jim was somewhat innocent when he first became a water clerk aboard the Patna; he lacked the mental toughness that would be crucial in key situations. With virtue and perseverance Jim struggled on. Trying to find his inner self and to become a goo .....

.... to sell the pearl. The pearl buyers were very conniving characters when they all tried to buy the pearl for much less than it is worth so they could sell it for a big profit. Kino now realized that this pearl was becoming a problem but he didn't care. His motives revovled around greed which was shown throughout the story. Kino encounters many other obstacles in his journey to sell the pearl such as theieves and his wife. Kino who was described as a very loving and caring man at the beginning of the novel hit his wife because she wanted to get rid of the .....

.... The climax of this transition is marked by the death of Piggy and the destruction of the conch shell, which has very similar symbolism to Piggy. The gradual shift is also measured by various incidents that obstruct Piggy's mental reasoning, such as the breaking of his eye glasses, and the loss of the boys' faith in him. Piggy's character is used to show how even the best solution to a problem can easily be overlooked because of the lack of respect, pre-established prejudices, and the lack of mature thinking processes. The biggest drawback here is a one-two punch of highly technical prose employed to relate a thoroughly dull story. Karen Randall, the daughter of an eminent physician, dies as the result of a botched abortion. Art Lee, a Chinese obstetrician, is accused of performing the D & C that has resulted in her death. Though Lee is known to be an abortionist, he vehemently denies any involvement in the case. Lee calls upon his friend, foren .....

.... in Haw (not necessarily Hawaiians) who contributed a great deal to the islands and their people. Since Hawaii covers such a huge time span, there are a great many plots and sub-plots, all of which show the different situations that each of the many "types" of Hawaiians are confronted with. Michener uses mostly specific, fictional details to support the general ideas of the islands and their various people, that he conveys through Hawaii. I will go into more detail about the plot in the "Documentation" section. Michener's Hawaii is a superb example of .....

One character in the play particularly concerned with his goals, regardless of the path he must take to reach them is Thomas Cromwell. Cromwell is the personification of pragmatism and is willing to do anything, providing the end sees him satisfied. "…our job as administrators is to make it as convenient as we can," Cromwell states in reference to the King's divorce and the pursuit of More's support. He is "…the King's ear," and is thus responsible for .....
