also allows you to communicate with any other computer on the network. If you
access by a host, it is usually done through a LAN or with telephone lines and
modems combined with Internet software on a personal computer. Terminal access
is usually done by a telephone line and a modem and it is used with terminal-
emulation software on a personal computer. This also allows you to interact
with another computer that is an Internet host (explained later). Gateway
access is similar to terminal acce .....

The Internet And Its Effects And Its Future
Number of words: 5757 - Number of pages: 21.... the Internet is becoming integral to their operations. All users of the Internet have the ability to send and receive data: messages, notes, letters, documents, pictures, video, sound- almost any form of communication, as effortlessly as making a phone call. It is easy to understand why the Internet is rapidly becoming the medium of choice for business. Using the mouse on your computer, the easy point-and-click interface gives you access to electronic mail for sending and receiving data, and file transfer for copying files from one computer to another. Telne .....

Virtual Reality
Number of words: 1543 - Number of pages: 6.... to new ideas, and you have a good imagination, virtual reality may be
a toy for you.
What is VR?
Virtual Reality grew out of flight simulation research during World
War II and early computer graphics research in the 1960's. In 1965,
computer scientist Ivan Sutherland published a paper describing "The
Ultimate Display" and set the stage for research on the technology of
Virtual Reality. Here's an excerpt from his paper:
"The ultimate display would, of course, be a room within which
the computer can control the existence of ma .....

Number of words: 1129 - Number of pages: 5.... computers along the path switch each packet that will take it to its
destination, but no two packets need to follow the same path. The Internet is
designed so that packets always take the best available route at the time they
are travelling. 'Routers' which are boxes of circuit boards and microchips,
which do the essential task of directing and redirecting packets along the
network. Much smaller boxes of circuit boards and microchips called 'modems'
do the task of interpreting between the phone lines and the computer. The
packets are all switched i .....

What Is Virtual Reality
Number of words: 4298 - Number of pages: 16.... with the world and directly manipulate
objects within the world. Some worlds are animated by other processes,
perhaps physical simulations, or simple animation scripts. Interaction with
the virtual world, at least with near real time control of the viewpoint,
in my opinion, is a critical test for a 'virtual reality'.
Some people object to the term "Virtual Reality", saying it is an oxymoron.
Other terms that have been used are Synthetic Environments, Cyberspace,
Artificial Reality, Simulator Technology, etc. VR is the most common and
sexiest. It has caugh .....

Brief History Of Library Automation: 1930-1996
Number of words: 1647 - Number of pages: 6.... the early twentieth century.
The Beginnings of Library Automation: 1930-1960
It could be said that library automation development began in the 1930's
when punch card equipment was implemented for use in library circulation and
acquisitions. During the 30's and early 40's progress on computer systems was
slow which is not surprising, given the Depression and World War II. In 1945,
Vannevar Bush envisioned an automated system that would store information,
including books, personal records and articles. Bush(1945) wrote about a
hypothetical "memex" system which .....

3. Will the equation people = Internet Users be true in 2001?
ABSTRACT
The problem of Internet addiction is not very noticeable now and that's why not
many people are taking it seriously, but what these people are failing to see is
the connection between the very rapid growth of the Internet and the addiction
problem. It is really simple logic the bigger the Internet get the more users
will be which will lead to a big .....

Technology And Progress
Number of words: 1133 - Number of pages: 5.... Still unable to understand that my actions could cause annoyance or pain to another, I often would often tease my dog for my own entertainment. Usually the teasing would consist of things like chasing my dog with the garden hose, or stealing his food and running with it, but one time I took my games too far. For some reason I came in contact with the idea that pain was humorous, maybe from TV, or schoolmates, or even my older siblings. Despite where the idea originated I still was taken with this new form of humor. My dog Barney unfortunately was the reci .....
