Beyond that was the endless void of the world that they hadnt experienced. Personally I feel that many of the people in this play had an inner sense of shame and guilt among them but nobody could express it because of the fear of being persecuted. To me that is not a religion. That is a trap. Or a “catch 22” if you might. These people were so caught up in God that they forgot the morals and values of life and got caught up in making God ha .....

.... she loved failed to show up on their wedding day. Granny Weatherall’s self-pity gives the reader a negative initial impression of a woman the author eventually expects us to miss. The ailing octogenarian is so incredibly annoying at the beginning of the story that one almost welcomes the idea of her passing. The second theme is the acceptance of immenint death. At first, Granny Weatherall could not accept the fact that her days were numbered. She shows this when the doctor is summoned and she says "I won’t see that boy again. He just left five minutes ago .....

(1335) Boy Willie, on the other hand, was a loud and stubborn man who had his mind set on selling the family piano from the onset of the play and nothing or no one was going to change his mind. "He is a brash and impulsive, talkative, and somewhat crude in speech and manner." (1334) These characteristics of the two main characters refer back to the theme of this play by illustrating the attitudes of African-Americans towar .....

.... spare time. This idea does not seem reasonable to me. Why does someone have to be a farmer? This would mean that whoever did not want to farm was forced to. That is slavery. What about all the other things that a community needs to survive? Are those needs going to be put on a hold until farming was finished? Will ill people have to wait for a doctor until he has spare time to help? It seems that farming to provide food for the community is Moore’s main concern. However, if he was really concerned about the people, his society should not have farming .....
