Euthanasia
Number of words: 575 - Number of pages: 3.... although patients in arrest are unconscious at
the time of resuscitation, it can be a brutal procedure, and if the patient
regains consciousness, its aftermath can involve considerable pain. In many
such cases, the patient will die whether or not the treatments are
performed. In some cases, however, the principle of mercy may also demand
withholding treatment that could extend the patient's life if the treatment
is itself painful or discomfort. The principle of mercy may also demand
letting die in a still stronger sense. Under its second component, the
princip .....

The Nursing Home: A Nice Place For The Elderly
Number of words: 476 - Number of pages: 2.... of the residents. Also, busses take the
senior citizens to places of common interest, such as the grocery store and
local shopping malls. This alleviates the everyday stress of driving for those
residents who are losing some of their basic faculties, and creates a safer
driving environment for everyone. In addition, these older citizens are
protected from those con-artists who prey deliberately on the elderly.
Nursing homes are full of entertainment and activities. I recall
visiting a local nursing home with my second grade Brownie troop. We sang .....

Humans Soon To Be Extinct... Say It Ain't So!!
Number of words: 3003 - Number of pages: 11.... change via the greenhouse effect killed off the dinosaurs. My
paper takes this proposed theory and relates it to the world today. Some of the
things that happened back then are also happening now, and if the dinosaur-
greenhouse extinction theory is indeed true, then we are also in danger of dying
from the greenhouse vertebrate killing mechanism, abrupt atmospheric changes,
and the other effects caused by the increased greenhouse effect and people
should know about the consequences of what we are doing to the earth. My paper
examines the similarities occurri .....

Opposing Euthanasia
Number of words: 2069 - Number of pages: 8.... It comes from the Greek words for "good" and "death", and is commonly called mercy killing. Voluntary euthanasia may occur when incurably ill persons ask their physician, friend or relative, to put them to death. The patients or their relatives may ask a doctor to withhold treatment and let them die. Many critics of the medical profession contend that too often doctors play God on the operating tables and in recovery rooms. They argue that no doctor should be allowed to decide who lives and who dies.
The issue of euthanasia is having a tremendous impact o .....

millions, some people may not respond in a predictable way to the drug. A person
who has a so-called idiosyncratic response to a particular sedative, for example,
may become excited rather than relaxed. Others may be hypersensitive, or
extremely sensitive, to certain drugs, suffering reactions that resemble
allergies.
A patient may also acquire a tolerance for a certain drug. This means that
ever-larger doses are necessary to produce the desired therapeutic effect.
Tolerance may lead to .....

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Number of words: 1001 - Number of pages: 4.... old.
The most classic case of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is Lou Gehrig. Lou
Gehrig was a New York Yankees first baseman, who from 1923 to 1939, had never
missed a game and had a life time batting average of .340. However, the

At that time doctors knew little to nothing about the disease and the only
suggested treatment was the untested vitamin E. So Gehrig ate a daily plate
full of garden grass, until June 2, 1941 when he died at the age of 37.
ALS affects approximately 1 .....
