Wuthering Heights: Negativity In Domesticity
In Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, it is perceivable that the domesticity that took place in the novel was more of a vice than a virtue for the characters. The domesticity evident in the novel seems to focus most on the notion of a woman marrying out of duty, rather than love. The dutiful act of marriage was a norm within the domestic realm, but the negative effect it had on Bronte’s characters proves that this act was more detrimental to the characters than it was positive.
