Elie decided that no matter how weak his father became he would always be there for him, even if he would die for it. Throughout the novel Elie Wiesel shows the reader how the Nazis broke the spirits of the Jews. This caused Elie to lose his faith in God, as his time in the Nazi camps grew longer.
