Alcoholism An Intrepretation
Number of words: 679 - Number of pages: 3.... in the human body. Due to this, the central nervous system, along with the pleasure centers of the brain, are affected resulting in a feeling of euphoria and a sense of well being. After repeated exposure, the brain becomes dependent on this drug to unburden itself whenever it feels the compulsion. Several factors that contribute to alcoholism are the individual’s psychology, genetics, culture, and the individual’s response to physical pain.
In order to understand alcoholism, we must first define what scientists classify alcoholism to be. Moderate drinkers drin .....

Nobelium
Number of words: 163 - Number of pages: 1.... can be found when produced artificially in a laboratory.
Discovery of the element was first claimed in 1957 by scientific groups in the
United States, Great Britain, and Sweden, but the first confirmed discovery of a
nobelium isotope was by a team of scientists at the Lawrence Radiation
Laboratory in Berkeley, California and that took place in 1958. The isotope was
created by bombarding curium isotopes with carbon ions.
Chemically, the properties of nobelium are unknown, but because it is an
actinide, its properties should resemble those of the rare earth elements.
Isotopes with mass numb .....

Air Pollution
Number of words: 788 - Number of pages: 3.... for heating and cooling homes, offices, buildings, and factories contribute significantly to . Electric power plants that burn coal or oil in also releases pollutants into the atmosphere. The major pollutants from these source are nitrogen- oxides, sulfur-oxides, and carbon dioxide.
The rapid growth of population and industry, and the increased use of automobiles and airplanes has made a very serious and complicated problem. The air we know today and breathe has become so filled with pollutants that it can cause little health problems to fatal health pro .....

Electrical Energy
Number of words: 231 - Number of pages: 1.... As a result the rate at which the capacitor is discharged, which is the current, is decreased. The outcome of this is that the capacitor will be completely discharged meaning that both the current and voltage will equal zero. At this time all the energy stored in the circuit will have been transferred to thermal energy at the resistor.
A heater uses electrical power. The power dissipated in a resistor is in return proportional to the resistance and the square of the current that passes through it. As the energy is changed from electrical to thermal the resistor gets hot.
In long distance transmissio .....

Genetic Engineering And DNA Technology In Agricultural Productivity
Number of words: 758 - Number of pages: 3.... plants are recognized at an earlier state whether or not they will be useful in breeding. DNA fingerprinting also makes it easier to ensure that organisms are homozygous for certain, desirable traits, rather than relying on just the phenotypes which may actually prove to be heterozygous and can, therefore, pass on the traits which were intended to be removed.
Even the knowledge of a single gene can have a major impact. Just by locating a single pathogen-resistant trait or adding or deleting a single gene can vastly improve the overall quality and value of an o .....

The Black Hole
Number of words: 1309 - Number of pages: 5.... core. A star is created when huge, gigantic, gas clouds bind
together due to attractive forces and form a hot core, combined from all
the energy of the two gas clouds. This energy produced is so great when it
first collides, that a nuclear reaction occurs and the gases within the
star start to burn continuously. The Hydrogen gas is usually the first
type of gas consumed in a star and then other gas elements such as Carbon,
Oxygen, and Helium are consumed.
This chain reaction fuels the star for millions or billions of years
depending upon the .....

Anti-Matter
Number of words: 1226 - Number of pages: 5.... would only annihilate with ordinary water, and could safety be kept in
(say) an iron container. This is not so: it is the subatomic
particles that react so destructively, and their arrangement makes no
difference.
Scientists at CERN in Geneva are working on a device called the
LEAR (low energy anti-proton ring) in an attempt to slow the velocity of
the anti-protons to a billionth of their normal speeds. The slowing of
the anti-protons and positrons, which normally travel at a velocity of
that near the speed of light, is neccesar .....

Abortions
Number of words: 711 - Number of pages: 3.... and unthinkable.
This is where I stand, and the only solution I can come up with is the total ban of altogether. This task should not be a hard one, but it might take some time. My plan calls for the closing and the illegalizing of abortion clinics, and the prosecution of people who perform these deeds.
As with any big descion we must consider the opposing views. One reason that the debate on what we should do about doesn’t go anywhere, is because each side focuses on a different topic. We make no progress because we are not talking about the same thing. .....
