The Study Of Akali Metal Contamination In Road Side Soil
Number of words: 1187 - Number of pages: 5.... quantify metal
concentrations in the extracts of the soil samples and consequently examine the
relationship between distance from the point of road salt application and akali
metal concentrations.
Experimental
Soil preparation: Six surface soil samples were collected at the intersection of
Cold Spring Lane and the exit ramp of Interstate 83, in northwest Baltimore city.
These samples were collected at distances from the roadway of 0m, 2m, 4m, 6m,
10m, and 20m. These samples were dried in a convection oven at 110°C for over 24
hours then crushed. Aliquots of .....

Copper
Number of words: 664 - Number of pages: 3.... 650,000
short tons, and Zambia with 596,000 short tons.
When copper is being mined, both Native copper and copper ore
are usually found. The highest grade of copper ore is pale silvery gray. Miners
used to be always in danger in copper mines. Today, we have reduced a fair
amount of these hazards. Miners wear hats made of iron or very hard plastic.
This is to protect them from falling rocks. Lamps are also attached to these
helmets in case some of the lighting in the mine goes out leaving a miner
stranded in the dark. One of the biggest problems with mining .....

Frogs
Number of words: 978 - Number of pages: 4.... a tail. As they mature,
their gills and tail disappear, and they develop lungs and legs. This period of
tadpole life can be divided into three stages. The first stage, called “
premetamorphosis,” lasts about 50 days (Patent 54). The second stage, in which
the hind legs grow, is called “prometamorphosis,” and lasts about 21 days. When
the legs are about as long as the body, the third stage, which is called “
metamorphic climax,” and takes place very rapidly, begins. During this last
stage, which lasts about a week, many great changes occur. They lungs comple .....

Fuel Cell
Number of words: 1167 - Number of pages: 5.... being only a fraction of the size.
How the PEM Works:
A is an electrochemical device that produces electricity silently, without combustion. Hydrogen fuel, which is one of the most abundant chemicals in the universe, and oxygen from the air are electrochemically combined in the to produce electricity. Heat and pure water vapour are the only by-products of the .
The Ballard Fuel Cell is made up of two electrodes, the anode and the cathode, separated by a polymer membrane electrolyte. Both the anode and the cathode are coated in a thin layer of platinum ca .....

White Shark: Summary
Number of words: 993 - Number of pages: 4.... decided to take a dive. They
ended up diving right down to the steel boxes that contained the "White
Sharks". The men were curious and so they opened the box. Nothing
happened at first and then glowing eyes caught their attention. One guy
was killed. The other guy managed to get away and swim for about 200 yards
and then he was down. The men's bodies washed up on shored weeks later.
That's when Chase and Tall Man knew there was something in the water and it
was up to them to figure out what it was. More strange things were
happening. The ocean life bega .....

Hurricanes
Number of words: 594 - Number of pages: 3.... the sea surface to replace
the air soaring upwards in the thunderheads. The air begins swirling around the
storm center, for the same reason that the air swirls around a tornado center.
As this air swirls in over the sea surface, it soaks up more and more water
vapour. At the storm center, this new supply of water vapor gets pulled into the
thunderhead updrafts, releasing still more energy as the water vapor condenses.
This makes the updrafts rise faster, pulling in even larger amounts of air and
water vapor from the storm's edges. And as the updrafts spee .....

Is Science Necessary For Our Future?
Number of words: 653 - Number of pages: 3.... was ultimately a failure for morality. Frankenstein, upon
completion of his monster, realized the immorality of his work and rejected
it and disassociated himself from it and science. The result of
Frankenstein's immorality was death for just about everyone he loved and
utter despair for himself. The monster was not necessary for our future
and neither were the methods of his creation. Because of the doctor's
irresponsibility, he lost everything including his life.
The monster, spawned by the immoral science of Frankenstein, was
witness to another way of .....

Animal Testing: Animals Suffer
Number of words: 1453 - Number of pages: 6.... history and even still to this very day
risky experiments are done on animals. The thousands of animals put to
suffer outweighs any of the research that has been gotten from them. Peter
Singer the author of a piece called “Animal Experimentation” in the book
Intervention and Reflection displays and evokes the actual suffering of
many harmless animals.
"In 1953 R. Soloman, L. Kamin, and L. Wynne, experimenters at
Harvard University, placed forty dogs in a device called a 'shuttle
box,' which consists of a box divided into two compart .....
