Term Papers on Social Issues
Why Athletes Are Good Role Models
Number of words: 1481 - Number of pages: 6.... you were watching the news, would you really want to hear about all
of the charities that an athlete has donated money to? It would be interesting
at first, but you would get tired of it afterwards. That is why the media never
covers anything like this. We all know that they really don't care about
anything else except for a hot topic. The truth really does not mean anything
to them. This we notice in all the cases that the media jumps to wrongful
conclusions, such as the Richard Jewel case and the Olympic bombing and the TWA
flight 800 that blew up over Ne .....

What Was The Effect Of The Space Shuttle Challenger
Number of words: 2726 - Number of pages: 10.... The
objective of the O-rings is to act as a seal that is meant to prevent gases
from escaping through the Solid Rocket Booster. One of the main reasons
for the explosion was that O-ring "flexed" and let the gases escape, which
in less than seconds later, caught fire and created the explosion.
Among the other minor problems were those of electrical problems and
faulty gages which were just "overlooked" because the problems were only
minor and they posed no real threat to the safety of the mission or the
crew of seven(7).

Gangs In Today's Cities
Number of words: 1529 - Number of pages: 6.... Money is also an crucial factor. A kid (a 6-10
year old, who is not yet a member) is shown that s/he could make $200 to
$400 for small part time gang jobs. Although these are important factors
they are not strong enough to make kids do things that are strongly against
their morals.
One of the ways that kids morals are bent so that gang violence becomes
more acceptable is the influence of television and movies. The average
child spends more time at a TV than she/he spends in a classroom. Since
nobody can completely turn off their minds, kids must be .....

Number of words: 1409 - Number of pages: 6.... is more isolated by physical geography, i.e. mountain ranges, rivers.
Linguists have done extensive studies on regional dialects, producing detailed
Linguistic Atlases. Many linguists can tell where a person is from just by
knowing whether a person carries groceries home from the supermarket in a paper
bag or from the grocery store in a paper sack (Yule 184). And the person who
comes home from the supermarket with a paper sack serves to remind us that
language variation is not a discrete, but rather a continuous variable.
Characteristics of the dialect are mo .....

Number of words: 1014 - Number of pages: 4.... that it was started nearly two decades ago in the
1980-1983 era by the hardcore-punk band called Minor Threat. The song
"Straight-Edge" written by Ian MacKaye, the band's singer, not only coined
the phrase, but it encompassed all of the philosophies that a straight-edge
person believes in. There have been theories that an earlier punk band,
called the Teen Idols (which included Ian MacKaye and the drummer from
Minor Threat*), started the ideology of straight-edge, but the term was not
used until MacKaye wrote and published the song. Minor Threat have since

Bad Or Good
Number of words: 360 - Number of pages: 2.... in different ways, it is
difficult for somebody to say what is good or bad, and in the same time to have
his opinion shared by everyone. Trying to classify, we might come up with a
result that might be true or not, depending on the point of view. In other words
everything is relative.
Paradoxically, when we start thinking we, we discover that we actually
know almost nothing, or that there are many things left, to be known. On the
other hand, the more we know, the more we want to know. This desire of knowing
more and more might be expressed through que .....

Number of words: 659 - Number of pages: 3.... in the same classes. This proves that different races can co-exist in an environment with out one group feeling out of place or inferior. Let the Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, and Asian children continue to learn and play together and racism will have no place in society.
Some argue that racism will not end, yet look at the deterioration over the past 200 years. With time America's decline of racism will continue. Jim Crow Laws prevented blacks from exercising their right to vote in the late 1800's. In 1964 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., MLK, won th .....
