Solar Energy: An Alternative Energy
Number of words: 290 - Number of pages: 2.... the sun as a result of a constant nuclear fusion reaction that is
taking place. The amount of energy at the solar constant, which is at outer edge
of the earth's atmosphere, is two calories per minute per cm squared. A calorie
is the amount of energy needed to raise one gram of water one degree Celsius.
If we could efficiently harness the energy bombarding the earth for twenty-four
hours we could power New York for a year. Unfortunately the photovoltaic cells
that change the energy into electricity are so inefficient that it would take
twenty-five years to pay for it's self in output.
There many uses of .....

AIDS: Is It A Modern Plague?
Number of words: 924 - Number of pages: 4.... for several weeks with various symptoms such as bodily soreness, fever, bronchial complications, and even pneumonia. But while these conditions can be painful and frightening, we are usually confident that proper medication and rest will take care of the matter.
However there is a much more severe and indiscriminate tyrant, with enormous corrupting influence, capable of infiltrating all of civilization. Scientifically, it is a submicroscopic pathogen consisting of a particle of nucleic acid, enclosed in proteins, and able to replicate only within a living cell. .....

Galileo And Newton
Number of words: 1182 - Number of pages: 5.... of
concept. The conclusions that Galileo made relate directly to the work in
physics for which he is so well known. His conclusions put emphasis on shapes,
numbers, and motion which are all properties that lend themselves to support
through "reasoning back and forth between theory and experiment." I feel that
Galileo's argument is a valid one because it explains relations in nature and
the physical world through mathematical analysis. This allows him to define a
world outside of human existence that can be logically calculated and explained.
His view descri .....

Microwaves
Number of words: 1380 - Number of pages: 6.... could be
focussed ina narrow beam with an antenna many times smaller. This enabled
them to make more effective use of radar since an antenna could be carried
on aircraft, ships and mobile ground stations.
This characteristic of microwaves, the efficiency with which they are
concentrated in a narrow beam, is one reason why they can be used in
cooking. You can produce a high-powered microwave beam in a small oven,
but you can't do the same with radio waves, which are simply too long.
Microwaves and their Use
The idea of cooking with radiation may seem like a .....

Minerals
Number of words: 174 - Number of pages: 1.... in the earths crust. Minerals are formed in a
positive response to their environment, most of them to deep for an observer.
Environments in which minerals are formed far beneath the earths surface are
plutonic igneous, pegmatitic, hot temperature vein, moderate temp. vein, low
temp. vein, and a metamorphic environment. Environments in which minerals form
near the earths surface are groundwater, weathering, and sedimentary. Minerals
are divided into groups on the basis of their composition. About one third of
all mineral belong to the group silicates. Other groups are carbonates they
includes cal .....

The Great Imposters
Number of words: 1454 - Number of pages: 6.... (and plants) spend their time
masquerading as others. So clever are their disguises that you've probably
never known you were being fooled by spiders impersonating ants, squirrels
that look like shrews, worms copying sea anemones, and roaches imitating
ladybugs. There are even animals that look like themselves, which can also
be a form of impersonation. The phenomenon of mimicry, as it's called
by biologists, was first noted in the mid-1800s by an English naturalist,
Henry W. Bates. Watching butterflies in the forests of Brazil, Bates
discovered that man .....

Role Of Government Intervention In Environmental Issues
Number of words: 824 - Number of pages: 3.... impact on the industries. So the core issue becomes
the fact no matter what, there will always be pollution, as long as these
industries exist. So we should focus on how we can minimize this and yet at the
same time have an efficient market system? Furthermore, we should also focus on
how we can accomplish this so that sustainable growth and development can take
place. So there is definitely a need for some form of government intervention
to enforce and monitor this. Reason being that there is always an element of
equality that has to be enforced, when d .....

Meta Physics
Number of words: 1495 - Number of pages: 6.... "why." We also know "that" water is wet but "why" is it wet. These were questions that nobody obtained the answers to but Aristotle was determined to know, and having this type of knowledge would truly earn the title of PAGE 1 Wisdom. Now finding the knowledge and answers would be very difficult but Aristotle believed what better way to obtain this then through the use of science. He knew that everything in science deals with learning using more than just senses. There are always deeper meanings and definitions when pertaining to science. In all types of scienc .....
